Nothing is, everything will be – with this premise, Deniz-Ahmet Saridaş dares to take a new look at the world. A world full of contradictions – water and fire, dark and light – a world in which humans only appear in rudimentary form and a world that is pervaded by dark but also light areas. The powerful images are accompanied by music that Saridaş composed and recorded together with Joshua Gottmanns under the project name Sequence of Events.
Sequence of Events songs, artworks and videos embrace the uncertainty and formlessness of a new world. Rather than being paralyzed by fear and confusion, they find pleasure in being driven faster and deeper into this vortex, a comfort that oozes from their delicate compositions, cryptic rhythms, and lyrics of loose poetry.

Growing up in the post-industrial wasteland of West Germany both spent their childhoods surrounded by blighted farmland and abandoned open-cast mines, living in social housing and the temples of religious fanatics. Saridas and Gottmanns individually found their way into fine art studies after already having experimented inside the local music scenes of the Rhein-Ruhr area which had been forged by Kraut, Punk, and raw forms of Techno.

The 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, all things electronic and eccentric, are clearly still a source of inspiration for the two self-taught musicians. Sometimes Sequence of Events sounds like Shoegaze from a near future where the English Channel already evaporates under an inflating sun, sometimes they remind you of psychomagical Industrial or Electronica from a parallel dimension where the Internet must have preceded the invention of analogue synthesizers.
