«Project Minerva» – a photographic carousel

My work often revolves around themes of identity and transformation, drawing from both my Italian and Albanian background. My photography is the way I connect personal narratives to broader cultural questions. With each project, I try to create visual narratives that feel poetic but also direct, confronting tradition while exploring what it means to redefine ourselves today.

«Project Minerva» is a photographic carousel that I shot in Tirana, Albania, conceived to explore the evolving journey of Albanian women in their thirties. At its core lies the tension between independence and the persistent weight of a patriarchal heritage. The fur coats in the series are not worn as fashion statements. They stand as symbols, of power, of tradition, of oppression.

My muse does not wear them, she carries them. Her body and face, luminous yet vulnerable, emerge from beneath their heaviness in gestures that oscillate between defiance and fragility.

Although rooted in a specific cultural context (where I was born), «Project Minerva» transcends geography. It resonates with a universal condition: the human desire to break free from narratives that no longer define us, to reclaim space where resilience and vulnerability can coexist.
